It is with fond memories and deep gratitude that I write my final message as your CEO. On October 18, 2024, I will be leaving Yee Hong Centre after 12 years of working alongside you all to fulfil our mission of supporting “seniors to live their life to the fullest” and continuing to demonstrate that Yee Hong Centre is a leader in the delivery of high-quality, culturally sensitive seniors care.
I am so proud of what we have accomplished together! We persevered throughout the pandemic, renewed our exemplary accreditation standing, opened Scarborough’s first residential hospice, launched digital transformation, and laid the groundwork for our new Finch II long-term care home. I am proud to have had the priviledge of leading our exceptional team at Yee Hong to achieve these milestone accomplishments while expanding services through exciting new programs and initiatives, such as our Dementia Care Hub and the Age Well at Home project, among others. These would not be possible without the hard work of our team at Yee Hong, and I will be forever grateful.
Looking back on my time at Yee Hong, what I’ve cherished most have been the opportunities to champion equity, diversity, and inclusion. Being CEO gave me a platform from which to amplify the voices of seniors with diverse backgrounds, people living with dementia, and women in leadership. I will always cherish the privilege of leading such a high-performing organization with an extraordinary team spirit and growth mindset to further advance innovation, sustainability, and impact.
This may be my last column as Yee Hong’s CEO, but my commitment to Yee Hong’s mission and vision remains strong. I will continue to seek opportunities for leadership and advocacy within the seniors care sector and beyond. I hope I have demonstrated what is possible when we collectively embrace a deep sense of purpose and a growth mindset It has been an honour to serve alongside talented “Yee Hongers” to live our shared values of “We Care, We Collaborate, and We Commit” while building the organization for future generations of older adults and those who serve them. Thank you for all your support during my time at Yee Hong.
Sincerely,
Dr. San Ng, BSc., MBA, PhD (she/her)
