“We are doing very well; don’t worry about us,” Zhi Xiong and Yan Ping, residents at the Yee Hong McNicoll Centre, tell their daughter and grandchildren through the iPad screen. The video chat is one of many sessions which the Activation Team at each of the four Yee Hong Centres arranges so residents stay connected with their families and don’t feel isolated during COVID-19.
Eva chats online with her husband. Through these video chat sessions, Eva at the McNicoll Centre and other residents living in the four Yee Hong long-term care homes are able to have face time with their families. “The video chat program is set up to help residents stay connected with their families to mitigate their feeling of isolation during COVID-19 when their families cannot visit,” says Tracy Jones, Yee Hong’s Chief Executive Officer.
