A hero is a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. At Yee Hong, there are many such heroes who go beyond the call of duty to sacrifice their time and energy for others during COVID-19. Here are their stories.

Joey Lee drops off groceries at a co-worker’s door.

Going to the supermarket and lining up outside can be a dread these days for many people. Not for Joey Lee, who offers to get groceries for her Adult Day Program team at the Mississauga Centre since the ban of non-essential visits. All seven team members now work in the long-term care home to assist with resident care. To cut down on the risk of exposure to the coronavirus, Joey goes to the supermarket weekly, and delivers groceries to team members’ homes when necessary.

The whole team is touched by Joey’s warm gesture and her sacrifice for others. “With one person doing the shopping instead of all seven members, the risk of contracting the virus and bringing it to work is decreased significantly. And I don’t mind being that person,” said Joey.
